  • Trypanosoma cruzi typically invades the tissues of other organisms, feeding on blood or lymph, and is associated with heart disease in canines by attacking the heart muscle, causing significant damage. Infection occurs when an infected insect deposits its feces on a dog’s skin and then bites, causing irritation and subsequent scratching.
  • Trypanosoma brucei invades tissues and damages several organs, leading to a condition known as African sleeping sickness.
