- FFeline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a virus specific to cats, often referred to as cat HIV or cat AIDS due to its similar effects on felines. FIV targets and damages white blood cells in a cat’s immune system. This ongoing damage weakens the immune system over time, making cats with FIV susceptible to secondary infections.
