Bioguard was honored to participate in the 14th Federation of Asian Small Animal Veterinary Associations (FASAVA) Congress 2026 in Taipei, joining veterinarians, industry professionals, and partners from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond for three days of knowledge exchange, collaboration, and connection.
Held from October 31 to November 2, FASAVA 2026 brought together members of the international veterinary community to share expertise, discuss developments in veterinary medicine, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Rooted in Taiwan with an expanding international presence, we were delighted to be part of this important event. It was a valuable opportunity to introduce our background and diagnostic expertise, reconnect with existing partners, and meet new professionals who share an interest in advancing animal healthcare.
From a Veterinary Reference Laboratory to a Diagnostic Company
Bioguard’s journey began in Taiwan in 2011 as a veterinary reference laboratory. Our early work focused on animal disease testing and providing laboratory diagnostic services to veterinarians. Through years of working with clinical samples and different animal diseases, we developed a deeper understanding of the diagnostic needs and challenges faced in veterinary practice. This experience became the foundation for our continued growth in research and product development.
As Bioguard expanded, our work grew beyond laboratory services into the research, development, and manufacturing of veterinary diagnostic products. Today, we bring together laboratory expertise, scientific research, and diagnostic technology to develop practical testing solutions for veterinary professionals.
Turning Laboratory Experience into Diagnostic Solutions
Since its establishment in 2011, Bioguard has grown from a veterinary reference laboratory into an animal health diagnostics company, becoming the first animal disease testing laboratory in Taiwan to receive ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation in 2017. Building on this laboratory expertise, we have continued to strengthen our quality and manufacturing capabilities, earning ISO 13485:2016 certification in 2021 and expanding our molecular diagnostics portfolio with the Qmini Real-Time PCR Series in 2023. Today, Bioguard offers a range of veterinary diagnostic solutions, including molecular testing, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and rapid tests, combining laboratory experience with product development to meet diverse diagnostic needs.
Introducing miniAST:
Supporting Veterinary Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing
At FASAVA 2026, we were pleased to showcase the miniAST Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing Analyzer, one of Bioguard’s key diagnostic technologies.
Antibiotic susceptibility testing plays an important role in bacterial infection management, helping veterinarians identify which antibiotics are likely to be effective against tested bacteria. However, obtaining reliable susceptibility information can be challenging in clinical settings.
Developed to support veterinary practices, miniAST automates the antibiotic susceptibility testing process and provides S/I/R interpretation to help veterinarians make more informed treatment decisions. It can process two samples simultaneously, supports three antibiotic panels, and delivers results in approximately 6–28 hours, depending on the initial bacterial load and bacterial species. The system also demonstrates up to 92% agreement with the conventional disk diffusion method.
Alongside miniAST, we were also delighted to present Bioguard’s Qmini Real-Time PCR Analyzer and Veterinary Rapid Test Series, highlighting the range of diagnostic technologies within our portfolio.
Connecting with the Veterinary Community Across the Asia-Pacific Region
hroughout the three-day congress, we were delighted to welcome veterinarians, industry professionals, partners, and international representatives to Bioguard Booth 3-2. It was a pleasure meeting both familiar faces and new contacts, exchanging perspectives on veterinary diagnostics, and learning more about the needs of veterinary professionals across different markets.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Federation of Asian Small Animal Veterinary Associations (FASAVA) and the Taipei Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) for organizing this meaningful congress and bringing the veterinary community together in Taipei.
We are also honored to recognize Dr. Robert Yang of Taiwan, President of TVMA and the FASAVA 2026 Congress, and Dr. Takuo Ishida of Japan, President of FASAVA, for their leadership and contributions. Our gratitude also goes to the speakers, board members, representatives, and organizing team for their dedication in making this congress a success.
We are proud to continue developing our international network and working alongside partners across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond to support the evolving needs of veterinary medicine.
