Bioguard Supports Local Vets through Continuous In- Hospital Education

The Bioguard Corporation conducts in- hospital education courses, headed by Robert Lo, Ph.D./DVM, to extend support to the local veterinarians through sharing knowledge on different pet diseases. Pursuant to the corporation’s dedication in providing professional help, Dr. Robert shares his expertise with the local veterinarians. He visits veterinary hospitals on a weekly basis to impart knowledge and contribute in improving their professional capability. The previous visits to the local vets has boosted their confidence and widened their knowledge on different pet diseases. Therefore, the continuous training is expected to provide stronger support to the local veterinarians and explore more insights in a veterinary aspect.

Bioguard Announces Participation in 12th WESAVC

The Bioguard Corporation will be joining the 12 th East and West Small Animal Clinical Veterinary Conference on July 21- 23, 2020. The said conference is one of the biggest events for small animal veterinary, and is held yearly in China. With the number of participants increasing every year, 2019 participants reached 14,535 in total. It is participated by exhibitors all over the world. Small animal clinical experts and specialists are also invited to give professional talks in the field. The exhibit includes industries of pet medical, pet foods, and pet supplies. Over all, the event is expected to build a platform of science and technology communication for small animal veterinarian, to facilitate the continuous education development for small animal veterinarian, promoting small animal clinical veterinary technology with international standards, and enhancing over- all level of Chinese small animal veterinarian.

Bioguard will be Launching a Book on Veterinary Clinical Bacterial Diseases and Antibiotics

The Bioguard Corporation has set to release their veterinary book on this coming July, 2020. The contents of the book were contributed by Dr. Cheng-Yi Lin (林政毅), Chairman of Taiwan Society of Feline Medicine; Dr. Chen-Si Lin (林辰栖), Professor of National Taiwan University; Dr. Shengteng Luo (罗胜腾), Director of HongChang Animal hospital; and the veterinary specialists from the Bioguard. It covers fields related to bacteriology and antibiotics specifically to companion animals. It contains figures and descriptions of different pathogens in dogs and cats, diseases they cause including symptoms, diagnosis, and disease managements. This book will be exclusively published by Bioguard in Taiwan and China first, for the partner local veterinarians. Availability in book stores shall be announced after its official launching. This is expected to impart knowledge and serve as reference for veterinarians on the causative agents of companion animal diseases.

Bioguard’s Participation in 12th WESAVC was Rescheduled

The Bioguard Corporation’s participation for the 12 th East and West Small Animal Clinical Veterinary Conference was rescheduled on November 24- 26, 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic. Bioguard has been participating in the event every year and showcases the high quality veterinary products that we developed and manufacture. However, the WESAVA has announced the postponement of the conference for the year 2020, in relation with the current global status amidst the COVID19 pandemic. The WESAVC is yearly held in China as one of the biggest events for small animal veterinary, participated by increasing number of exhibitors all over the world. Professional talks are being given by clinical experts and specialists in small animal veterinary during the conference. Industries related to small animals: pet medical; pet foods; and pet supplies are expected to gather and bridge the gap in communicating and providing innovative technology for the small animal veterinary. Given the circumstances, everyone is reminded to stay safe and healthy.

Bioguard Attends 19th Second General Meeting of TCVA

The Bioguard Corporation has attended the 19th Second General Meeting and Continuing Education and Training of Veterinarians on July 26, 2020 at Beitun District, Taichung City. Strictly following the COVID 19 prevention measures, members of the TCVA gathered. Booths were installed to display different veterinary products. In Bioguard’s post, high quality veterinary diagnostic kits were showcased. Stationed also were the corporation’s veterinary experts to provide professional assistance to visiting participants of the said event. The annual gathering of the association strengthens the veterinary industry in Taiwan, specifically in Taichung City.

Bioguard will Host Online Veterinary Courses on September 2020

The Bioguard Corporation will be launching Online Veterinary Courses starting first week of September, with Yung- Tsun Lo, DVM, PhD, one of the corporation’s veterinary experts, giving the lectures. Dr. Lo finished his PhD Degree in Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine on 2007. After working in College of Veterinary Medicine in University of Florida and afterwhich in Institute of Molecular Biology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan as Post-Doctoral Fellow, he joined Bioguard in 2016. He will share lectures in his fields of expertise: virology, immunology, molecular biology and clinical microbiology during the online courses. In addition to, Dr. Lo, together with his team, visits local veterinary clinics to conduct In- hospital lectures to the local veterinarians. These programs of the company are in line with the mission of providing not only high quality veterinary diagnostic kits but also extending professional support to our veterinarians. Bioguard Shows Support to TCVA During the Association’s 15th 2nd Member Conference and 2020-2 Academic Seminar

The Bioguard Corporation supports 15th Taoyuan City Veterinarians Association 2nd Member Conference and 2020-2 Academic Seminar as one of the event’s major sponsors last August 23, 2020 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. With COVID 19 safety protocols, the assembly was held. Members of the association were present on the gathering. Bioguard had their booth wherein high quality veterinary diagnostic kits were displayed. The corporation’s veterinary experts were also present to extend professional assistance to visiting participants of the said event. The annual assembly of the TCVA strengthens the veterinary industry in Taiwan, specifically in Taoyuan City.

Bioguard attends the 6 th Formosa Veterinary Congress in Kaosiuing, Taiwan on September 5- 6, 2020. The exhibition of veterinary products was participated by different companies. With compliance to the safety protocols against COVID19, Bioguard Corporation, aiming to extend professional support to the local vets, have showcased the high quality products they manufacture. They have rapid diagnostic kits for companion animals which are of export quality. They have also introduced the ISO certified built- in diagnostic laboratory in Taipei, Taiwan to the booth visitors. Aside from the products and the laboratory tests, the company’s veterinary experts were also stationed in the booth to give advice to the visiting participants. The congress, being one of the biggest veterinary events in Southern Taiwan, has brought the local veterinarians closer to strengthen the industry.

Bioguard Offers New Diagnostic Service: Hepatozoon spp

The Bioguard Corporation launches our newest diagnostic service available for Hepatozoon spp. As the threat of Hepatozoonosis is just around the corner for the dog pets, the Bioguard’s built- in laboratory in Taiwan decided to open for testing samples. We accept blood samples and conduct analysis under qPCR to check the presence of the parasite. The Hepatozoon spp, which causes Hepatozoonosis, are protozoan parasites of dogs which results from ingesting infected ticks. The parasite forms large gametocytes, up to 11 µm. They are oval to elliptical in shape, with clear to pale blue structures within the cytoplasm of neutrophils, monocytes, or both. It typically displaces the nucleus to one side of the cell. It causes severe cardiac and skeletal muscle infection (myositis), with symptoms including fever, weight loss, muscle loss or wasting, and skeletal pain (Valenciano, A., etc. 2014. Atlas of Canine and Feline Peripheral Blood Smears. pages 111-213.e2.) Since establishment, the corporation has always been dedicated in providing service for fast and accurate diagnosis of different companion animal diseases.
